About Fluoride Fiber

Compared with silica fiber, fluoride fiber has many unique characteristics in the operating wavelength, emission efficiency when ware-element are doped into.

FiberLabs Inc. is developing fluoride fiber and tellurite* fiber.
These fibers will enable to produce various and unique optical equipment, such as WDM communications, optical sensing, medical application, etc.

Tellurite glass is generally more stable than fluoride glass which allows for a wider selection of elements in the composition of the preform. It is expected that a different combination of the glass elements will result in different performance characteristics. Tellurite's resistance to moisture will also provide better reliability in telecom applications than fluoride glass. Another advantage of the Tellurite fiber is its ability to be pumped at 980nm as well as 1480nm
